Civil Partnership
The law governing civil partnership was established and set out under the Civil Partnership and Certain Rights and Obligations of Cohabitants Act, 2010. It is possible to register a civil partnership and once registered civil partners are treated in the same way as spouses under the tax and social welfare codes.
If you are in a civil partnership which has been registered and you wish to end that civil partnership the Courts are able to grant a Decree of Nullity of Civil Partnerships and/or rule the Dissolution of a Civil Partnership.
