Cohabiting and Non-marital Relationships
Cohabitants are defined in the Civil Partnership and Certain Rights and Obligations of Cohabitants Act, 2010, as to same sex, or opposite sex adults who are:
- Not married to each other
- Not in a registered civil partnership and not related within the prohibited degree of relationships and living together in and intimate and committed relationship
It is extremely important to note that a cohabiting couple does not possess the same legal rights and obligations of a married couple or civil partnership.
